Common set of business processes

CAS has been selected by The Coca-Cola Company to provide sales force automation solutions to its bottler network, as part of the Program Scale Mobile Customer Management (MCM) initiative. According to Tom Miller, General Manager of Program Scale and Vice President, Bottling Investments for The Coca-Cola Company, Program Scale is designed to provide company-owned and franchise bottlers with a common set of business processes under the Coke One operating model, using the SAP platform. MCM is designed to take the power of Scale to the next level - extend Coke One to include advanced customer facing capabilities, particularly in the area of mobile customer management.


Ocean Spray optimizes marketing and trade investments

Ocean Spray has signed a multi-year agreement for the M-Factor Software-as-a-Service platform. “M-Factor has helped us to better understand what we’re doing right and how we can further optimize our marketing and trade investments to drive even more incremental profit and volume in the future,” said Larry Martin, VP Marketing at Ocean Spray.


Network video cameras installed

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, the third largest tribe in the U.S., has expanded its use of Axis network video cameras to include more than 1,000 cameras at six casinos. Prior to 2006, the Choctaw casinos used analog solutions, comprised of analog cameras and monitors, co-axial cabling, multiplexers, time-lapse VCR’s and video tape. The tribe decided to move to IP video because its video recordings were not of high enough quality and some video recordings were not good enough to be used as evidence for the prosecution of certain events. $13.5 million for contraband detection systems

GE Security’s Homeland Protection Business is executing delivery on a contract worth up to $13.5 million for MobileTrace handheld contraband detection systems. MobileTrace incorporates GE’s patented ITMS (Ion Trap Mobility Spectrometry), or trace technology, into a highly portable device. U.S. courts have considered the results of testing with trace technology in drug related prosecutions.


$11.5 million service and maintenance for X-ray detection

American Science and Engineering, Inc., a worldwide supplier of X-ray detection solutions, has won a $11.5 million service and maintenance renewal order from the U.S. government for Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) and the ZBV Military Trailers (ZBV Mil Trailer) - a rugged version of the Company’s patented ZBV cargo and vehicle screening system. The ZBVs and ZBV Mil Trailers are deployed to support counterterrorist missions.


Emergency response capabilities

United States (US) Army posts Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem have installed InterActCAD and InterActGIS to enhance their emergency response capabilities. InterAct products and services were selected in response to a command-approved proposal for consolidation of both 911 centers into a single facility. Based in Atlanta, GA, Fort McPherson is home to Installation Management Command, Southeast Region; U.S. Army Forces Command; U.S. Army Reserve Command; U.S. Army Central; and other critical military operations. Fort Gillem, a neighboring facility, is an essential industrial and logistical support base, housing several Department of Defense and Army staff, as well as other government agencies. Explosive Trace Detection

GE Security has an order for 15 Itemiser DX units from US Testing Equipment, one of GE Security’s authorized distributors for sales of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) systems for air cargo screening. The Itemiser DX can simultaneously analyze from a single sample both positive and negative ions, providing the ultimate explosive contraband detection of complex explosive substances. A lightweight unit with a one-hour battery, the Itemiser DX is engineered with a built in handle for hassle-free transportation. US Testing Equipment will offer Itemiser DX as part of its work with air cargo facilities to help them meet government mandates for trace detection units. The Itemiser DX meets the requirements of the TSA’s Certified Cargo Screening Program.


First Response software in emergency vehicles

Santa Clara County Fire Department in California has awarded ADASHI a contract to put its First Response software in every emergency response vehicle. ADASHI directly integrates with Santa Clara County’s dispatch system automatically initiating and routing emergency units to an incident site using sophisticated maps and audible turn-by-turn directions. Mobile inventory management system for Fire Department

The City of New Orleans Department of Homeland Security and the City of New Orleans Fire Department have selected Upp Technology, Inc. to help improve the efficiency of their day-to-day operations. New Orleans chose Upp’s irms|EM (Emergency Management) solution, deployed on the irms|Go-Kit for a mobile inventory management system allowing the city to track inventory through the use of bar-coding at their warehouses and storerooms. Furthermore, the same Go-Kits can then be redeployed to the field in times of emergency to receive and distribute cots, water, food, and other critical supplies needed in Emergency Response.


Emergency buttons for school buses

Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) based in Port Charlotte, Florida has standardized on GPS-driven applications from Everyday Solutions. EveryPoint and an emergency button will be installed on 132 buses at CCPS. In the event of an emergency, the driver can press the emergency button and an alert, including the precise bus location, will be sent via email and text message to school officials. EveryPoint will also supply CCPS with real-time and historical data that can be presented in reports and on maps of the district to monitor activities such as excessive speeding, engine idling and fleet performance. School district spends $1.7 million

Mansfield Independent School District (MISD) has invested $1.7 million in the Fast ForWord family of products from Scientific Learning to help the district’s struggling readers and boost the performance of students already at grade level reading proficiency. Designed to accelerate learning by developing the student brain to process more efficiently, the Fast ForWord educational software was purchased this spring will be used this school year by elementary, intermediate, middle and high school students within Mansfield’s 37 schools. School District buys ERP

Cherry Creek School District No. 5 has signed a multi-suite contract that includes the Lawson S3 Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites as well as the Lawson Human Resource Management suite. The new system will help the district automate manual processes, such as budgeting, purchasing and personnel transactions. Lawson Teacher Contract Administration will help the district manage complex tracking and reporting requirements associated with teacher pay to help ensure accurate payroll, benefits, time and taxation processes tied to teacher contracts. Hawaii community solution to youth programs

The State of Hawaii has awarded nFocus Software a contract to deploy its community solution to youth programs. nFocus Software will implement a data collection and information management system this summer in the Hawaii Department of Defense’s About Face program, which provides positive youth development outreach to at-risk youth. The About Face program provides services to over a thousand young people in 25 sites throughout Hawaii. As the chosen community solution, nFocus Software’s TraxSolutions participant management software will allow the About Face program to standardize and centralize data collection from multiple service providers. Encryption and key management solutions

Follett Higher Education Group has selected Thales encryption and key management solutions. As a result Follett has eliminated time-consuming manual processes for managing encryption keys – a key requirement for compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Follett Higher Education Group sells more than 23 million textbooks annually in stores and online, and operates more than 700 campus bookstores for colleges and universities across the United States. For every transaction the company protects its customers’ personal data from breaches, complying with PCI DSS. Prior to selecting the Thales solution Follett security administrators manually replaced or rotated old encryption keys by hand in order to fulfill one of the PCI DSS requirements. Remote deposit capture for Florida bank

Florida-based First Southern Bank has selected Heartland Check Management, a total, end-to-end check processing platform, to provide remote deposit capture and client-specific check management solutions to its business clients. Heartland Check Management allows First Southern Bank’s business clients to utilize one comprehensive system that handles all aspects of check processing ― from deposit to recovery. With the Heartland solution, a client simply scans a check from his location using a remote scanner, and the deposit is processed. The client receives automatic notifications and can monitor every step of the deposit 24/7/365 in real-time. Online business banking solution

Hancock Bank, a $7 billion financial institution has launched a customized online business banking solution from NCR Corporation. Designed to give small business customers specialized tools for cash management, the online business banking solution complements Hancock Bank’s existing online consumer banking offering from NCR and helps the bank extend its customer reach and improve customer service. Anti-Money Laundering Management System

Lea County State Bank ($225 million asset) successfully implemented Banker’s Toolbox’s Bank Secrecy Act Anti-Money Laundering Management System (BAM). Lea County State Bank was manually completing their Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) compliance reporting. The motivation to change to an automated solution came after a turnover of compliance staff. With fewer staff members to handle the bank’s BSA/AML workload and complete the work in an efficient and timely manner, the need for an automated program that worked well with the bank’s core processor, Harland Financial Solutions’ Phoenix System, increased. Predictive analytics underwriting solution in Hawaii

Hawaii Employers Mutual Insurance Company, a workers’ compensation company, has implemented Valen Technologies’ UnderRight predictive analytics underwriting solution to improve pricing strategies and profitability. With UnderRight’s predictive analytics capabilities, HEMIC underwriters are now able to gain greater insight into risks, improve predictability of outcomes and assign accounts to the appropriate tier based on performance more effectively. Dreams, Inc, a leader in the licensed sports products industry, has reached an agreement with JCPenney that provides customers the ability to purchase from an array of licensed sports memorabilia and apparel directly from the retailer’s online sports fan shop at (www.jcp.com). The new site provides an expanded offering of licensed sports merchandise from professional teams, colleges and athletes – all at JCPenney’s signature affordable prices. The new and expanded online sports fan shop will launch in October. By aligning with JCPenney, a national retailer with one of the largest general merchandise websites on the Internet and more than 1,100 department stores, Dreams is able to extend our merchandise offering to the more than half of Americans that the retailer currently serves. Pamida, operators of more than 200 general merchandise stores across 17 states, has selected the Revionics Advanced Pricing Solution (RAPS), which features a fully integrated forecast, planning and optimization environment across every day, promotion and markdown pricing. Pamida is known for providing consumers value and convenience for branded products, including apparel, home electronics, domestics, seasonal items, toys, house wares, and grocery items. The Revionics solution will calibrate prices on every item, in every store, each week across all categories ensuring Pamida is achieving their desired price image and financial objectives. Additionally, Revionics Promotion and Markdown Optimization will help Pamida plan and execute more effective, localized events based on regional product demand. Grove Park Inn has chosen IDeaS V5i, a forecasting and pricing tool, to optimize revenue and profit in the historical Asheville, NC resort. (Terry Price, Grove Park Inn’s executive IT manager, also serves as global vice president of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP).


Critical marketing tool for hospitals

With 75 percent of the U.S. population and nearly 100 percent of physicians being online, the web is a critical marketing tool for hospitals. Emerson Hospital selected brand communications firm PARTNERS+simons to develop a next-generation website to both underscore the hospital’s dedication to its patients and to build its brand online. Emerson Hospital is a 179-bed hospital providing advanced medical services to more than 300,000 individuals in 25 towns. The PARTNERS+simons assignment includes developing new content and functionality to enhance the Emerson experience for patients, visitors, and referring physicians. Investment firm’s video environment

Silver Lake has selected AVI-SPL’s ConferencePoint, powered by Glowpoint, for management of the investment firm’s video environment. Silver Lake, a private investment firm specializing in technology, technology-enabled, and related growth industries, is implementing a video program for improving management collaboration on projects with portfolio companies. Eric Rosenberg, Silver Lake’s Chief Information Officer, said, “Our goal was to find a comprehensive solution with the necessary components required for successful implementation of a video program.”


Integrated Digital Surgical Suites

Massachusetts General Hospital has selected BDV to integrate their state-of-the-art Integrated Digital Surgical Suites (IDSS) video and audio solution into their new operating rooms and vascular hybrid suites. The IDSS will enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivered by the Massachusetts General Hospital’s surgical, nursing, radiology, pathology and clinical engineering teams by providing high-resolution video routing, audio routing, multi-windowing, printing, recording and video streaming.


Improved its financial performance by $12 million

Using Contract Management and Decision Support analytics tools from MedAssets, Fletcher Allen Health Care improved its financial performance by approximately $12 million in 2008 through better management of its managed care payors. The tools have assisted the hospital in securing $8.3 million in new cash flow from more favorable contract negotiations based on thorough contract analysis that identified project variances. In addition, the Company’s Contract Management tool helped the hospital identify and collect $3.7 million in payor underpayments by identifying and validating discrepancies between contract terms and actual payor payments. University of Pennsylvania Health Systems (UPHS) will be implementing the Peopleclick® Recruitment Management System (RMS) and Peopleclick® Onboarding as an integral part of their talent acquisition strategy. UPHS is the oldest, leading health system in the country with over 13,000 employees providing extensive programs such as research, neuroscience, genetics, cardiovascular treatment and oncology.


ERP for custom signage

$62.8 million contract by the California Department of Motor Vehicles

L-1 Identity Solutions has been awarded a five-year $62.8 million contract by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to continue providing secure driver’s license solutions. Two two-year extensions are options for the State and if exercised would add an additional $45.8 million to the contract’s value. The contract includes new workflow processes and technologies to further improve the integrity of the issuance process and security of the card. USDA - up to $25 million over five years

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has named Unisys as a recipient of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Security Analysis and Support Services contract. Under this multiple-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle, Unisys will have the opportunity to work with the USDA and its agencies to review, analyze and upgrade IT security procedures and tools as well as respond to attacks against USDA systems and resources.


Unisys, one of six companies awarded the USDA OCIO Security Analysis and Support Services contract, is eligible to compete for task orders to provide to all USDA agencies a range of IT security services. The contract has one base year and four one-year options, which are exercisable at the sole discretion of the government. The contract has a ceiling value of $25 million over five years for all task orders issued to all companies.


Services may include analysis of security risks associated with offices within the USDA and correcting critical security weaknesses; performing security analyses on networks, applications and USDA hardware; identifying the components of the existing architecture that will require upgrades, replacements or modifications; and designing secure network infrastructures.


Under the contract, USDA also may issue task orders for compliance reviews, penetration testing, forensics support, incident management and technical writing for policies, procedures and standards.


The USDA OCIO Security and Analysis and Support Services contract is a department-wide vehicle and can be accessed by all 29 USDA agencies to procure these types of security support services. It expands the department’s longstanding relationship with Unisys, which has included, in recent years, assignments to migrate and consolidate the Food Safety and Inspection Service’s data center operations and a contract to develop and deploy the Rural Development Guaranteed Loan System and associated systems to automate the loan underwriting process.


Capital project management processes at Seattle

The Port of Seattle has chosen Skire Unifier to support its newly streamlined capital project management processes and to provide visibility into project estimates, budgets and cost controls. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the sixteenth largest U.S. airport as measured by total passengers and has relatively high origination and destination traffic compared to other large airports. Seaport facilities include terminals for containers, general and break-bulk cargo, fishing support facilities, space for more than 2,000 recreational and commercial fishing boats, two large vessel cruise facilities, conference facilities, office buildings and industrial properties.


$9.6 million for mobile biometric recognition systems

L-1 Identity Solutions has received new orders totaling $9.6 million for HIIDE and PIER mobile biometric recognition systems to be deployed in areas of conflict as part of existing customer agreements. HIIDE is a ruggedized tri-modal mobile biometric enrollment and recognition device providing real-time identification using iris, finger and face biometrics. First introduced in 2005, it is the most pervasive device of its kind with over 10,000 devices fielded into areas of global conflict. It is also the most widely deployed multi-modal device with defense agencies. More than 4,500 PIER devices are in the field today, used for iris-based mobile biometric enrollment and identification.


$4.4 million from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) collection, analysis and dissemination of ecosystem information on the Earth’s atmosphere, oceans and seas, and land-masses is critical to public safety, protection of property, and the economic health and development of communities in the United States and globally. Under a contract valued at $4.4 million, employee-owned technology solutions provider Alion Science and Technology will perform a wide range of radio frequency (RF) spectrum services for the NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Radio Frequency Management (ORFM) that will help to ensure environmental data can be gathered and transmitted via satellite. Under the contract, Alion will support the protection of RF spectrum access for NOAA’s network of geostationary and polar-orbiting environmental satellites and associated ground systems by analyzing RF interference between NOAA and other satellite networks and providing RF engineering and project management expertise. Alion will work with national and international RF spectrum policy-setting and regulatory bodies to support NOAA’s spectrum interests. Additionally, Alion will perform RF modeling and analysis of environmental satellite Earth-to-space and space-to-Earth communications and develop processes and procedures to ensure availability of RF spectrum for NOAA.
